School Trip - Murton Park 23rd September 2016
It was only a week ago that the children went through a rigorous training programme that turned them from mere Celts to mighty Roman soldiers. They spent the day learning how soldiers dressed, how they fought and how they guarded their forts. They made clay oil lamps, the kind used during the 1st Century, and they even signed away 25 years of their life to the Roman Army. Fortunately their service was to last only a day but they received their pay and even scared away a Celtic intruder, proving their worth! Have a look at just a few of the pictures of our fantastic day.
Your child will be given a Year 3 and 4 spelling list which is to be stuck in their Homework book. In addition to the six spellings the children choose from the weekly list we teach the rules for, please feel free to encourage your child to practise other words from the list. This will support you child during writing and reading activities in all subject areas.
Year 4 swim every Monday. It is part of the National Curriculum for your child's year group and as such it is important that children arrive into school with the correct equipment. They need a towel, a swimming cap and a swimming costume (no loose fitting shorts for boys). If your child has a medical condition or complaint that prevents them from partaking then a letter must be sent to the class teacher. Goggles are permitted if your child has a medical condition and again a letter is required. Your child is responsible for transporting their kit to and from the swimming baths.
